About Us

Hope4ACD Key Verse

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

- 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 NKJV

Kent has received God’s comfort with ACD issues and shares what he’s learned with others so they, too, can share the comfort they received from God with others, and together, relationships and marriages can be healed and the cycle of divorce broken!

About Hope4ACD

The seeds for HOPE4ACD were planted in the early 1970s when my parents divorced. At 13, their divorce seemed like an earthquake with one great jolt. I thought I’d adapted to the continuing divorce tremors, but 30 years later I learned that the impact of my parents’ divorce was still affecting my relationships and marriage.

The book, The Unexpected Legacy of Divorce by Judith Wallerstein, opened my eyes to millions of ACD who, like myself, were unaware of the anger, feelings of unworthiness, inadequacy and inferiority, fears, father hunger, and increased likelihood of divorce that plagued them.

After researching books and articles, interviewing authors and counselors, and speaking with adult children of divorce, in 2004 I presented my first seminar on ACD issues. Adult Children of Divorce Ministries was created to convey the gathered information to adults with divorced parents. HOPE4ACD was launched from these roots.

Kent and Kathy
Kathy Darcie

Kathy’s parents were married for over 50 years so dealing with ACD issues was a new experience. Kathy shares information and her experience and perspective for those who don’t personally identify with the issues faced by adult children of divorce, but must live with the fallout.

Kent Darcie, MA-LLPC

Kent has presented teachings, classes, workshops, and full day seminars on the impact of parental divorce to college students, young marrieds, empty nesters, and senior citizens. His radio programs, through TWR (Trans World Radio), are encouraging ACD around the globe, and his published articles have helped ACD connect the dots between their parents’ divorce and their own personal and relationship struggles.

Kent and Kathy thank God for over 35 years of marriage. They have 3 adult children and reside in southeast Michigan.
